About the project

The Forum is one of Hertfordshire Universities most sensational projects so far. Four years in the making, the £38million, state-of-the-art entertainment venue opened in time for Freshers week 2009 and can hold up to 2000 people. It has been successfully heralded as the very best in live music and social spaces. The facilities within are equal to those provided by most commercial venues and it has been loaded with the latest technology, breath taking contemporary designs and will host a jam packed calendar of events gigs and live music.

The versatile venue has three bars, a club and a restaurant and is surrounded by an atrium boasting a plethora of shops, cafe’s, bars and additional restaurants - it has understandably become the hub for campus leisure time.

With so many options for dining, grabbing a snack on the go or enjoying a coffee with friends, catering consultants Russell Partnership were brought in to advise and deliver the best possible solution for each zone. Russell Partnership are well known within the industry for their fresh thinking approach, seamless delivery and sustainable success - all of which compliment the Universities own ethos. To help them deliver the very best results they enlisted the trusted support of both the GS Group and Williams Refrigeration Southern to specify and install a suite of bespoke modular coldrooms and a range of refrigerated cabinets and counters.

Williams proudly present some of the most flexible, energy efficient equipment on offer and were delighted to supply 6 x HO3U from the Opal range, a 2 door Garnet, 3 x 1 door Garnets and a selection from their Gem MultiDeck display range. All designed with energy efficient controllers and incorporating the latest in design technology - saving time, money and energy at every opportunity.

The Forum itself - a stainless steel block sitting above a brick and glass plinth, uses water harvesting devices, an alarmed water leak system and energy efficient lighting. New bus stop terminals and large bicycle racks have been built to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly transport to and from the complex.
