The Main Event, LACA 2016, Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Birmingham. 6th – 8th July. Stand M26
Energy saving and sustainability are vital in schools kitchens. Not just because it’s right for the planet, but also because it makes solid financial sense, especially with equipment that uses energy 24/7 – like refrigeration.
On Stand M26 at this year’s LACA Main Event, we will be able to advise school caterers on how to use flexible refrigeration equipment to optimise space, adapt to changes in menu, speed up service and ensure food is kept fresh – whilst saving energy.
Our Jade range is popular with schools for delivering on performance, reliability, affordability and efficiency, plus they look good too. We’ve recently redesigned and improved the Jade range of cabinets and counters – making them our most energy efficient range to date.
From the outside the Jade cabinets and counters look the same – sleek, aesthetically-pleasing, functional design – but everything you can’t see, such as compressor and condenser type, airflow design, as well as gaskets, self-closing door and hinge mechanisms, has been improved. The useable space inside has increased, while at the same time increasing the thickness of the insulation - making them perfect for busy school kitchens wanting more refrigeration space on the same footprint.
Grab & Go counters are still very popular in schools. The right choice of display units and products can make the school dining area look more like a high street outlet, while still offering a range of healthy and nutritious meals. Grab & Go units not only need to look attractive, with clean lines and stylish design, they also need to enhance the products on display, to encourage uptake, and allow them to be easy to access.
Gem Multidecks are popular refrigerated merchandisers in the foodservice sector and fit well into the school dining area. They have optional self-closing sliding front doors, allowing easy access while guaranteeing uniform temperatures, keeping items fresh. They are very robust and available in a choice of stainless steel colour finishes to match the dining area décor. LED strip lighting further enhances the display.
The Multideck’s locking double wheel castors make it easy for staff to reposition if required, making it an ideal choice for multipurpose school dining areas. The unit’s shelving is adjustable to suit changes in the display. For smaller schools the Multideck Slimline R Series is ideal, while for larger schools the standard M Series offers over 32 cubic litres capacity.
Another option is the Gem Sandwich Chiller. This open-fronted unit gives pupils open, easy access to Grab & Go products. It is finished in attractive, highly mirrored stainless steel to fit in with any setting. The chiller also incorporates Williams’ innovative new energy-saving ‘air curtain’ concept, which allows customers free access to the products while keeping the cold air inside the display.
