Every year Williams Refrigeration takes a moment to recognise and applaud its staff who have reached notable anniversaries in their careers at the company. This year saw six employees collectively celebrate 170 years of service, and they were presented with long service awards and gifts at a special lunch.

Long serving Williams employees Richard Eke, John Hopgood, Karen Redhead and Lee Cook celebrating their work anniversaries at Williams’ King’s Lynn HQ.
Those recognised include Lee Cook and Karen Redhead, who have both reached 40 years at the company, as well as John Hopgood who has been there for 30 years. Warren Giffin, Ian Bruce and Richard Eke have each hit their 20 year anniversary.
John Hopgood, production supervisor, joined the company back in 1996. "I was just 16, hair down to my shoulders," he says. "I've worked here through my most joyous times in life and also my saddest, and knowing people for so long helps make things a little better."
Warren Giffin is the area sales manager for Northern Ireland, Eire and the Isle of Man, who remembers his earliest days at the company. “I was asked to present my previous equipment to the sales team and directors, which was pretty nerve-wracking to say the least,” he says. “But I got offers of orders from a number of my new colleagues, which certainly broke the ice!”
“Watching Williams develop over the years and how good we are at keeping up the pace of improvements to the range and introducing market firsts is very inspiring,” he says. “I feel pride and appreciation both to the company for a great 20 years and also the people here, who have become like friends and family. We couldn’t achieve anything without working as one.”
“It’s always very inspiring to celebrate our staff who have been with us for so long,” says Tim Smith, managing director of Williams. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have so many people who have dedicated a significant part of their careers to Williams, and their knowledge, experience and commitment are hugely valued.”
