Sustainability

Williams' 'Cradle to Grave' approach reduces environmental impact at every stage.

Williams Refrigeration is proud to uphold an extremely high level of sustainable practices from all aspects of the company. We are committed to maintain this standard through ongoing environmentally friendly developments.

Williams follow the AFE Ethical Trading code and ensure compliance with it by our suppliers. Every Williams supplier is also assessed and graded on the environmental management of their product and plant.

Product

Components for our products are carefully selected using the most stringent design criteria, giving the utmost consideration to their environmental impact and the overall sustainability of our products.

Green Transport

In terms of logistics, we minimise our transport’s carbon footprint with planned deliveries and full loads. We have also invested in green transport technologies, such as transponders, GPS trackers, catalytic reduction and opticruise boxes. Our delivery fleet uses Euro 6 diesel engines, a modern combustion engine that is becoming even cleaner and more sustainable.

Zero to Landfill

Williams is committed to reducing its environmental footprint - monitored by trained staff to ensure we maximise ‘re-use and recycling’ to minimise waste. We are proud to have achieved Zero to Landfill status since 2012.

Williams has achieved ISO 14001 certification across all of our manufacturing plants (UK, Australia and China), for the design, manufacture and installation of refrigeration products.

We recycle 99% of production waste and maintain that 99% of materials used in manufacture are recyclable.

The remaining 1% consists of condensate from compressors, which is treated and reclaimed by a third-party partner. Even our used oils go through a purification process that sees them segregated, re-distilled and fit for re-use.

Sustainability Commitment

Sustainable practices are key to the ongoing success at Williams, with further eco-initiatives continually being developed. Read more on Product Responsibility, Plant Responsibility or Energy and the Environment.

Safe Disposal Service

Williams also offers an uplift, transport and safe disposal service (EA registered). End of life commercial refrigeration appliances are classified by the Environment Agency as hazardous waste and must be disposed of in a safe manner.

Commercial refrigeration consists of numerous components and refrigerants, which, unless disposed of correctly, can have a damaging impact on the environment. These elements must be disposed of responsibly adhering to strict regulations.

We offer a fully licensed safe disposal service for end of life redundant refrigeration appliances, helping businesses in the removal of old units via a sustainable practice in line with WEEE and Hazardous Waste Regulations. More information on this service can be downloaded here.
