Williams' updated Chefs Drawers

Chef’s Drawers now offer multi-temperature operation for more flexible food storage.

Williams’ Chef’s Drawers are now available as multi-temperature models, following the successful launch of the Jade MultiTemp range. This means that the drawers can be adjusted to any temperature from +4°C to -22°C, so that they can store specific food products in exactly the right conditions.

“The Chef’s Drawers were already a remarkably versatile refrigeration solution,” says Malcolm Harling, sales and marketing director of Williams.  “Multi-temperature functionality gives chefs even more choice and control over food storage.”  

Chef’s Drawers are individual refrigerated units, made of stainless steel throughout.  They bring refrigerated storage right to the heart of busy commercial kitchens, for example as part of a chef’s station, which is why they are designed to cope with ambients as high as 43°C. They can fit into tight nooks and crannies, helping operators and designers make the most of the available kitchen space.  They can even be stacked, with a total height as low as 838mm, offering a space-saving refrigeration combination that maximises storage and  fits under a 900mm high work top.

The multi-temperature functionality lets chefs maintain their ingredients at the best possible quality.  For example, meat is best stored at between -2°C and +2°C.  Meanwhile standard frozen goods are typically kept at -22°C, but ice cream may need to be stored at temperatures as high as -10°C to keep it at its best. The Chef’s Drawer can be set to the right temperature to keep almost any ingredient in top condition.    

There are two models in the Chef’s Drawer range.  The VRWCD1 has the refrigeration system at the rear of the unit, while the VSWCD1’s system is side-mounted.  This means operators can select the best unit to suit their space – the VRWCD1 is 880mm wide and 850mm deep, while the VSWCD1 is 1100mm wide but just 670mm deep. Stacked versions of both models are available. 

The Chef’s Drawers are designed to simplify storage and kitchen operations. They accommodate 2/1 GN pans, up to a maximum depth of 150mm. Cleaning is straightforward, thanks to removable drawers and fittings. Swivel and brake castors lock them solidly in place, while making them easily movable for cleaning or repositioning.  The castors come in a choice of sizes, and there’s also the option of adjustable legs, so the height of the Chef’s Drawer can be specified to match the site’s needs.
